Official X Handle of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Hacked; CM Soren Orders Probe

The official X handle of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (@JMMJharkhand), the ruling party in Jharkhand, has been hacked by unidentified cyber miscreants. Chief Minister Hemant Soren confirmed the breach through his personal X account, stating that “anti-social elements” were behind the act.

He has directed the state police to take immediate cognizance of the matter and initiate a thorough investigation.

Following the Chief Minister’s directive, the cybercrime wing of Jharkhand Police has begun its probe. A forensic audit of the compromised account is underway to determine whether any unauthorised activity was carried out after the breach.

Officials said the focus of the investigation is to trace the source of the hack, establish the intent, and assess whether the handle was used to spread misinformation or manipulated in any form.

The incident comes amid an increasing number of cyber attacks in the state targeting high-profile individuals and institutions. In recent weeks, fake social media accounts of senior bureaucrats, including the Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi, have been reported. Cases of cloned accounts of politicians and attempts at digital fraud have also surfaced, raising concerns over the state’s cybersecurity preparedness.

Jharkhand Police have assured that the case is being pursued with urgency and necessary steps are being taken to prevent such incidents in the future. The compromised handle remains under observation while the investigation continues.
